Favorite Makeup of 2024

I thought discussing 2024 favorites before Black Friday (rather than at the end of the year) would be more helpful, so here we are. This time, I decided to only pick from the makeup I reviewed in 2024. I’ll also link to some of the end-of-year wrap-ups and favorite posts that I’ve done in past years. If you are curious about some things in heavy rotation, regardless of what I reviewed, I’ll list those at the bottom. Alright, let’s get into it. 🙂

Favorites of 2024

Makeu Up For Ever (MUFE) Artist Matte Bronzer 40 Warm Pecan Swatch

MUFE Artist Bronzer 40 Warm Pecan (swatch and review) – It’s pigmented, smooth, easy to blend, and the color works for me. I won’t bore you further with this one since I just mentioned it in my Revisiting Some Old Makeup Favorites post.

Armani Luminous Silk Creamy Bronzing Powder 110 Swatch

Armani Luminous Silk Creamy Bronzing Powder 110 (Swatch) – I love a bronzer with some shimmer, and I was happy to see Armani release one. I still prefer the discontinued NARS bronzer formula over this one, but this has still been in heavy rotation. I will warn you that the shimmer in this formula is noticeable if you go out in the sun. It can also be more noticeable (even in the house) if you apply it with a brush that is too dense. Just some things to keep in mind.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer 435 Bisque Warm (435W) Swatch Review

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer 435 Bisque W (swatch and review) – This seems to be a slightly polarizing concealer, and I can see why. While it doesn’t crease much when I use it on my face as a spot concealer, it does crease when used under my eyes without powder. Once I set it with powder, it wears well and has minimal creasing. On the face, I have not needed to use powder with it. This is a matte finish, which is more comfortable for my dry skin to wear during the warmer weather. It does not dry me out, but it is not hydrating for me personally, as the brand claim states. Luckily, though, I can still use this when it’s cold, without it drying my skin out. Lastly, I don’t think this is full coverage as claimed. I am still enjoying this concealer with its medium coverage, and I set all but very few concealers, so I don’t mind that. This is the concealer I use most often now instead of the Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer. They are not dupes at all, but with my sensitive skin, I really prefer to use a product that isn’t as fragranced as the Dior.

Revlon Powder Blush Mauvelous 003 Swatch

Revlon Powder Blush Mauvelous 003 (Swatch) – This is one of those products that just works. It is easy to blend and pigmented while still being easy to control. It lasts all day and looks smooth on my skin. I’d love it if more shades were offered and especially if the whole line was available in stores, rather than having to hunt them down online.

Favorites and Wrap-Up Style Posts From Previous Years

Heavy Rotation Products

  • Charlotte Tilbury Nude Romance Lipstick – This is the brand’s satin formula and has become a favorite. I reviewed the formula here and you can see a swatch of the shade Nude Romance here.
  • MAC Desert Rose and Burnt Pepper Blushes (swatches) – At this point, I would say this formula can be considered outdated, but I still love it. It is pigmented and easy to blend, and I’m still happy with the color selection despite how many shades have been discontinued.
  • NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation – I do notice that this sinks into lines, and occasionally, it sinks into pores on a bad skin day. However, I never see it very much until after about 8 hours of wear, and by then, I’m pretty close to taking my makeup off anyway. 10 hours is pretty much the longest makeup wear I get, but in those last 2 hours, I’m just in my house.
  • Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – I don’t always wear mascara, but when I do, I prefer length and lift from a formula over volume, and this gives me both.
  • bareMinerals Mineral Veil Pressed Powder Translucent Tan – This is giving the NARS Light Reflecting Powder some competition. They are not similar powders at all, but when I come across a concealer that the NARS can’t keep in place, the bareMinerals Mineral Veil saves the day. It is drier than NARS, but it delivers on longevity and decreases creasing, so I still like using it. UPDATE April 9, 2025: I recently reviewed this in my 2025 Powders for Dry Skin Update. You can read that by clicking here.
  • Smashbox Always On Foundation – This wears ok on my dry skin type, but I wish it lasted longer. It gets a little patchy by the end of the day. I also wish the color range suited me better. M20W is the best shade match for me, but something between that and T10W would be ideal. I am used to mixing 2 shades at times, but with these colors, I need more of M20W than of T10W, and most of the time, I just can’t be bothered to fuss with getting the mix right. I still want to try different application methods before I give up on it completely, but I am waiting for the winter when I can wear shade M20W by itself without mixing. You can see me wearing the Smashbox Always On Foundation in this post and can see a swatch on my Makeup Swatches page.
  • MAC Eyeshadows – MAC’s eyeshadows aren’t the most popular formula on the market, but I still love them. I have featured them a lot over the years, and it isn’t always a home run, but overall, they have remained a staple for me. You can check some of those posts out here, here, here, and here.

      1. I hear everyone talking about the newest Benefit mascara Fan Fest (which I thought was just okay), and I have several tubes of Bad Gal Bang, so whenever I think of a good Benefit mascara, my mind always goes straight to Bad Gal Bang and I forget that I used to really like Roller Lash too, but just haven’t repurchased it in years. Aside from that, MAC’s frequent putting out of different limited edition packaging for the Megastack and my interest in tubing mascaras thanks to the KVD Full Sleeve, but my wallet pleading for the cheaper options (Essence) are also all playing a part. lol.

        1. I did really like the MAC mascara but it irritated my eyes for some reason even though their mascaras are typically fine for me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I ended up not trying the fan fest because I saw some reviews say it was hard to remove. Glad to know it’s just ok lol.

          1. I know it sounds weird, but I only have an issue with the MAC mascara if I take a nap. I’ve never seen flaking, but I have to assume any flaking just falls onto the ground and not on my face, so I don’t see it. I don’t have problems with irritation as long as I thoroughly remove whatever bits of my mascara gets in my eyes in the removal process. So the only time it’s a problem is if I want to nap. When I want to wear makeup, I have to think about how tired I am that day and that determines if I use it or not. It’s wild. lol.

            1. 😂 Well, at least now you know. It doesn’t sound weird, but it would probably make me avoid repurchasing it. But Estee Lauder Double Wear takes more effort because I need to prep my skin more, and it’s harder to remove than other foundations. But I still always have a bottle of that on hand. I’m sure we all have things like that.

              1. Yes, this is true. I keep saying I need to stop buying it since I have others I like too, but I always miss it when I don’t use it. I talk alot about not wanting to be inconvenienced with makeup, but this is one I’ll keep dealing with. lol. I guess it’s also similar to the hassle of mixing concealer shades or when I have to use my KVD concealer with the Milk primer. You’re right. I guess we all do have items worth the trouble. 😀
