After hearing some rave reviews about these Covergirl Shadow Sticks, I decided to check them out. I love a good purple eyeshadow, so I bought the shade 960 unruly.
This formula is creamy enough to glide on the eyes without tugging. Unfortunately, it does dry pretty quickly. I’d suggest doing one eye at a time so you can blend before it dries down completely. It has good pigmentation and doesn’t take much product to get the true color. I was surprised by the finish. To me, it appears mostly matte with a hint of sheen once applied to the eyes. I expected it to be shinier with more of a shimmer finish. I’ve only used this product with my fingers, so I’m not sure how it might perform when used with a brush.
While my lids do get slightly oily in the crease, I found that I didn’t need to use an eye primer. The staying power is excellent. On the downside, that longevity makes it tough to remove. Using micellar water or an oil-based remover before washing my face has worked best for me.
This is the first time in several years that I’ve used a stick eyeshadow, so I can’t say how comparable it is to other brands. Overall, I’d consider this eyeshadow stick difficult to use. It dries so quickly that it limits blending. If you are going to use it as a smudgy eyeliner, I can see it being workable. But, if you want to use it as a base for other shades, I’d look into other formulas.
Have you tried any shades of the Covergirl TruNaked Queenship Cream Shadow Sticks? Does the formula vary from shade to shade? Let me know in the comments below.

Even if I like liquid and cream shadows, I tend to not reach for them. My sister loves shadow sticks though, so I’m always keeping an eye out for any I could potentially get for her, though I don’t know how they perform since I don’t try them out myself. Your review has been helpful. Thank you!

I get that. I have some cream shadows that I love and I still manage to forget about them. You’re welcome 🙂
