Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush (Just Cruisin’ and New To U)

This will be a short and sweet review, so let’s get right into it. Colourpop doesn’t promise much in its claims for the Pressed Powder Blush ($12), but I can only agree with half of them. Unfortunately, the half I agree with are the least important parts of this blush’s performance. They describe this formula as a silky powder blush with a color that stays true all day, which I agree with. The disagreement comes in because they claim it adheres to the skin and is long-wearing. Something about this silky formula just doesn’t cling well to the skin, and despite how pigmented they are, it takes some building to get the color to show. I have tried it over different foundations and setting powders and had the same experience. Even when swatching them on my hand, I can tell that they have less grip than other formulas of blush. As far as the long-wearing claim, I have to reapply this blush formula because I notice that it fades throughout wear. Just Cruisin’ fades faster than New To U, either because it is less vibrant or because the formula of New To U is slightly better. Regardless of the reasons, I don’t get the performance out of this formula that I want.

I only have a picture of me wearing Just Cruisin’, and this is after having reapplied it once. I go for a blown-out (i.e., very blended) blush style, so I never pile on blush. But it was still surprising for me to have fading with this blush when I’ve never had that issue with a blush before. The New To U shade doesn’t fade as fast, which could be because it does stick to my skin more easily than Just Cruisin. However, it is not enough of an improvement to consider the problem with Just Cruisin’ to be a fluke.

Swatch Comparisons – Covergirl Sweet Seduction, Colourpop Just Cruisin and New To U, Revlon Mauvelous

Covergirl Sweet Seduction, Colourpop Just Cruisin and New To U, Revlon Mauvelous Swatches Medium Dark Skin

Although the comparison shades are close, I also chose to show you Covergirl Sweet Seduction and Revlon Mauvelous because I would recommend these formulas over the Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush. The Covergirl Blush has a satin finish, compared to the Revlon and Colourpop being matte formulas. In terms of the best value, Covergirl is 9.5g for $8.99 at Target or $11.99 at Ulta. The Revlon Powder Blush only has 5g for $9.99 at Target or $13.29 at Ulta. The Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush is 6g and is $12 everywhere that Colourpop is sold. While it does have more product than Revlon, it doesn’t mean much when you have to reapply it throughout the day, which I don’t have to do with Revlon. This one just missed the mark for me.
