Let’s Do Some Window Shopping (bareMinerals, NARS, Armani, Tarte)

My thoughts on new beauty releases: bareMinerals Blonzer shade expansion, NARS Light Reflecting Eye Brightener, Armani Power Fabric Concealer Reformulation, Tarte Mini Big Ego Palette, and Tarte Mini Tartelette Fresh Picked Palette.

If you follow the beauty industry closely, you know that sales and new releases are happening constantly.  Here are some sales and new products that caught my eye.

bareMinerals Blonzer and Brush Set, $37.44 at QVC: bareMinerals has recently added 2 new shades to their Blonzer range, Kiss of Spice and Kiss of Mauve. As far as I can see, they are only available on QVC in this set that comes with a brush. If they were ever available from bareMinerals directly they must have sold out. The Blonzer by itself retails for $26.00, so it may be worth it to wait for the new shades to become available separately. I do like the bareMinerals gen nude blush formula but this range didn’t have a shade that I was really excited to use. Unfortunately, this shade expansion hasn’t changed that. Kiss of Rose is the closest in the range of something I’d like to wear but since I have MAC Faux Sure I decided against buying it. They are not formula dupes by any means, but they are both glowy and are close enough in color that I’d get the same overall look.

UPDATE September 2024: I ended up buying the NARS Light Reflecting Eye Brightener in the shade Magic Hour. Click here to check out my review.

NARS Light Reflecting Eye Brightener, $34.00: When I first saw this I assumed it was a corrector, but the brand intends this to brighten and illuminate rather than to neutralize. That isn’t a bad thing, just something to keep in mind if you are looking for a corrector. Of course, depending on the color some of these shades may work for you to neutralize, but that just isn’t the intended function. For instance, the brand claims that it “Targets dark circles and dullness to give the illusion of a dramatic lift that glides on seamlessly.” There is a big emphasis on its ability to illuminate and a mention that it can soften dullness. You can use this alone, over your concealer, or under your concealer. It is supposed to be crease-resistant and long-wearing so it has some major claims to live up to. For me, I don’t see where this would fit into my routine, but if you like a brightened under-eye, maybe it could be worth a look.

Armani Power Fabric Concealer (Reformulation), $40.00: I’m not sure what the brand has changed about this concealer but it was clearanced out in the last few months and then popped up this week as a new product. The Armani website description does specifically call it new. I did notice that shade 8.75 is no longer available so it’s possible that there are some other shade changes as well. I do like the Luminous Silk Concealer and I always heard great reviews about the old formula so hopefully they haven’t changed it too much.

Tarte Mini Big Ego, $25.00 and Tarte Mini Tartelette Fresh Picked Palette, $25.00.: If you don’t already know, I love smaller palettes and quads. The bigger palettes are only a better value for the price if you actually want that many shades and I typically don’t. I’m more of a one-and-done eyeshadow person with an occasional 2 or 3 shade look. The only time I do more complex looks is if I’m testing a product. To me, $25 for 6 shades isn’t a bad value for money in this instance. It’s been a while since I’ve used Tarte eyeshadows, but I enjoyed the formula of the Tarteist Pro To Go Palette which was also their Amazonian clay formula. One thing to know that I don’t see mentioned is that Tarte eyeshadows do have a slight vanilla scent to them (the formula contains vanillin).

Let me know in the comments what products you’ve been curious about.  They don’t have to be brand new to the market, anything you’re excited about is worth sharing.
