I originally reviewed the Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeshadow formula back in 2021 in the shades Charged and Fazed. The shimmer shade Charged was a big letdown, and the matte shade Fazed was just okay. Every now and then, these go on sale for 50% off at Ulta and Macy’s, so I decided to find out whether all the shimmers were as messy and difficult to work with as the shade Charged. Here are the pictures and swatches of Charged and Fazed from my initial review, in case you missed that.

TLDR: I do like the other Urban Decay single shimmer eyeshadows that I have tried (Half Baked, Overdraft, Dumb Luck, Ember, and Psych) a lot better than Charged. And I still think that Fazed is just ok.

There is a little fallout from Half Baked and Dumb Luck, but I found it easy to brush away and didn’t notice it happening during wear, only initial application. Fazed has a loose press but is easy to build and blend. I do wish the line had more mid-tone matte shades to choose from. Overdraft is my favorite shade of this bunch. It has a smoother texture and higher shine than some of the other shades. Shades Ember and Psych both have a blackened base to them, so there is a little color shift that gives them extra dimension.

I don’t experience any creasing, and they don’t fade regardless of what eye primer I use. They all offer a nice shine without accentuating the eyelid texture much. I think they are easy to work with, but I do find that Ember and Psych can be trickier to work into eye looks because of that blackened base I mentioned. For instance, when looking at Psych straight on, it appears brighter green, almost teal on me (NARS Tahoe/Estee Lauder 4W4/Olive undertone), but from the side, it looks dark green. I know this type of duochrome is very popular, but personally, if I pick a green to wear, I want it to look that shade of green.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeshadow – Overdraft

The Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeshadows are talc-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. I would still suggest skipping the shade Charged, but I do think the other shades are worth looking into while they are 50% off.

Have a good one!

  1. Ooo Ember and Psych are my kind of shades! It’s unfortunate that those are the ones that are a little trickier to use, but at least they turned out better than your experience with Charged.

    1. They are beautiful! I think people who use duochromes a lot likely won’t have an issue. And I can see them being nice for getting more from a smoky one shadow look as well.
