**Givenchy Le Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick, $48 (shade 114)

The formula of the Le Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick was nice and felt comfortable on my lips, but the scent of this lipstick was a deal breaker. I have been able to wear Givenchy lipsticks and lip balms in the past, and felt that the smell went away, but that was not the case for the Le Rouge Interdit Satin formula. I’m not sure if the fragrance added to this formula is in fact stronger than in the past, or if I’m just more sensitive to it now. Either way, I couldn’t hang in there long enough to truly test the formula out. Givenchy promises that this lipstick provides 24-hour hydration with a 6-hour color impact, and it comes in a genuine leather case. It is well reviewed, and I’ve had great success with Givenchy’s products in the past, so it may be worth considering for those not sensitive to fragrance.

I have swatches and comparisons below of the shade with Estee Lauder Covetable, Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose, Charlotte Tilbury Nude Romance, and Pat McGrath Negligee. Givenchy’s 144 Satin ended up being quite a unique color. None of the other shades I have are really that close.

After this round of swatches, I thought that Estee Lauder Covetable and Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose were the most promising, so I swatched only those two with the **Givenchy Le Rouge Interdit Satin 114 shade.

As you can see, in a more direct comparison, the Estee Lauder and Charlotte Tilbury shades still aren’t that close. Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose comes closer, but on my cooler-toned lips, they look nothing alike.

Ilia Eye Stylus Shadow Sticks, $32 (shades Faun, Divine, and Patina)

Ilia doesn’t have many claims for the Eye Stylus Shadow Stick, but the formula fell short for me. It is supposed to glide seamlessly, be easy to blend, have rich pigment, be waterproof, and last up to 12 hours. I can agree that it has rich pigment, is waterproof, and lasts for 10 hours (I’ve never worn it for longer than 10 hours). I don’t find the Ilia Eyeshadow Sticks to be difficult to blend, but I wouldn’t describe them as easy either. I have an easier time blending the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks, the NARS Total Seduction Eyeshadow Sticks, and the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Sticks. Speaking of these other formulas that I have an easier time with, I also think that they all glide on more easily and with less tugging than the Ilia formula. The Ilia Eyeshadow Sticks do build on themselves, unlike my experience with the NARS Total Seduction Eyeshadow Stick’s shimmer formula (no issues with the matte formula). So that is helpful and makes it easier to blend them together when I use more than one shade in a look. They work and they last, but I don’t enjoy the experience of applying them, and I have better products that I’d rather use.

Oof. Another luxury brand with perfume that’s too strong in a lip product. If they insist on adding a fragrance, I wish it could be vanilla or something. I know many designer brands pride themselves on their perfumes, so they want a signature identifiable scent in their makeup, but I wish they would quit it lol.

Agreed, vanilla never bothers me. So, if it has to be there, I’d prefer that. I do get how the signature fragrance makes it harder to counterfeit and also creates a more concrete memory of the item in people’s minds. But it is still super inconvenient for me 😂.
