Hourglass Curator Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Futurist, Expressionist, and Realist)

I just have a quick swatch post for you guys today. I discussed the Hourglass Curator Eyeshadow Palettes ($68) last month in a Wednesday Window Shopping Post. I did decide not to purchase any of these, but while I was in Sephora the other day, I was able to get swatches of the Futurist, Expressionist, and Realist Palettes. These palettes are talc-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. The packaging looks nice, but the size is so small that it just ends up feeling cheap, considering that these are $68. They are also small in terms of product quantity.

I knew they were small before I saw them in person, but walking up to the display, it just hit me differently to see them. Then, picking them up, I just expected a little more weight. And I say that as someone who often uses their pressed powder, which is plastic and not necessarily weighty. They swatched ok, but they just don’t feel worth it to me. However, I haven’t tried the formula on my eyes, so keep that in mind.

  1. Even the Youtube vids I’ve seen where they say the completed looks aren’t special, but the quality is good…didn’t convince me. Every so often though the thought, “are these really not for me?” comes to mind, but seeing this post is like the final nail in the coffin. Your swatches sometimes make me reconsider skipping out on palettes, but if these are having the opposite effect, there’s no way I’d like them. lol. Thank you for posting them!

    1. 😂 No problem! I’m glad it was helpful. From a business perspective, the brand needed these in its lineup. But for the money you’re spending, there are better options out there unless you need your eyeshadows to be talc-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. That is the only thing that I can see that would make these a better option than other eyeshadows on the market. There are other cruelty-free options, and talc is being removed from an increasing number of formulas. But for now, Hourglass does seem to have a slight edge.
