I took me a long time to give **the Lancome Hypnose 5 Eyeshadow Palettes a try. I have enjoyed Lancome single eyeshadows in the past, but they have discontinued most of that range. I’m happy to say that the quality and performance of these eyeshadows are excellent. I will warn you, the matte formula does not swatch well, but it really does perform great on the eyes (where it matters). Lancome claims that the Hypnose 5-Color Eyeshadow Palettes are highly pigmented, long-wearing, smudge-resistant, crease-resistant, and non-flaking. They are also promising a soft and smooth texture with palette variations that offer day-to-night colors. I must say, the only thing I somewhat disagree with is the day-to-night color scheme, as it can vary based on personal preference and skin tone.
**Lancome Hypnose 5 Eyeshadow Palette 19 Ardent Drama ($65) – matte palette

The matte eyeshadows (in both 19 Ardent Drama and 17 Bronze Absolu) have a dense and almost creamy texture to them. There is no mess or kick-up when I dip my brush in the pan, and it almost seems like I’m not picking up pigment. But a little bit goes a long way, the mattes are very misleadingly pigmented. Despite that, if I apply too much, they are easy to blend out. They are smooth and don’t look dry or textured on my lids. They pick up and work well on synthetic and natural hair brushes.

**Lancome Hypnose 5 Eyeshadow Palette 17 Bronze Absolu ($65) – 2 mattes, 3 shimmers (green shade has a bit more sparkle)

The green shimmer in 17 Bronze Absolu has more dimension and sparkles running through it than the other two shimmers. Overall, the shimmers are metallic, but they lean slightly toward a satin finish. The shimmers are all kind to my eyelid texture, whether applied with fingers or a brush. Sometimes, shimmers look smoother on me when I use them with my fingers. Although they work fine with both brush and finger application, the shimmers have more shine and impact when applied with fingers. That isn’t unique to this formula, just something to keep in mind.

I have found the Lancome Hypnose Eyeshadow Palettes to be long-wearing and crease-resistant. I have used them with my usual MAC Prep and Prime 24HR Eye Base, as well as other primers and over an eyeshadow stick, without any issues. Lancome packaging always looks nice to me, but it can feel a little cheaper than its price tag. Considering these are $65, I wouldn’t mind if they felt a little heavier than they do. I wouldn’t say they feel cheap, but I think $65 is steep. Luckily, Lancome often has 30% or more off sales that you can take advantage of. Both the Lancome Ardent Drama and Bronze Absolu palettes are great, and I enjoy using them. But I am glad I waited to get them on sale (30% off making them $45.50 before tax).
Enjoy your weekend!

Wow Bronze Absolu is looking very enticing! I might have to add that to my wishlist, especially with how you describe the quality.

I’m not sure about Bronze Absolu, but Ardent Drama is one of the palettes that was added since Lisa Eldridge has been Lancome’s creative director. Remembering that does make me want to finally drive into Lisa Eldridge’s brand.

Ah I see. I wonder how similar or different the formulas are. Also, I already looked up the palette haha and apparently it has a different name depending on the country. It’s called Golden Khaki at Douglas.

Makes sense, I would buy any eyeshadow described as a golden khaki. 😂
