Lip Favorites Set, Created for Macy’s (Holiday 2024)

Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Pitaya, Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey, Lancome Lip Idole Butterglow Keep It Glowy, Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm Rose, and Wander Beauty Lip Retreat Oil Oasis Glow Review and Swatches

The Lip Favorites Set Created for Macy’s retails for $25 and features 1 full-sized and 4 mini-sized lip balm and lip oil products. The set came with a $5 coupon for any future $20+ beauty purchase at Macy’s. Unfortunately, this set is sold out, but since all of its products are permanent, I figured I’d go ahead and talk about what I liked and didn’t like from the set. For reference, I have dry lips that prefer lanolin-based lip products. However, none of the featured products have any lanolin or lanolin derivatives.

  • **Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Pitaya ($30, .2 oz/7 mL): This is a nice high-shine lip oil that feels comfortable and is lightly scented. I like that the texture isn’t too slippery and hangs onto the lips for a while. I actually prefer the thicker texture of the **e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil ($8, .25oz) because it leaves my lips in better condition after I’ve used it. The Clarins Lip Oil is more sheer than e.l.f., so they aren’t necessarily dupes, but do about the same thing. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil doesn’t dry my lips or cause any issues with chapping, but it doesn’t provide me with any extra hydration or nourishment that the brand lists in the claims.
  • **Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey ($25, .07 oz): Clinique doesn’t claim much about this product. It is simply marketed as a sheer, lightweight, emollient-rich tinted lip balm. Some people are sensitive to this lip product’s first ingredient, castor seed oil. So that is something to keep in mind. As the brand claims, this is lightweight and sheer, and as always for Clinique, it is fragrance-free. This is lightly hydrating, leaves my lips in good condition, and is comfortable to wear throughout the day. Black Honey Almost Lipstick was released in 1989 in the stick form it is now sold in, so the formula is a classic but a little outdated when compared to the shinier and more slippery tinted lip balms I’ve seen released more recently. Many reviews disagree that the shade will flatter all skin tones, and I can see why this shade wouldn’t work for everyone, but I like it. When it comes to moisture and feeling comfortable on my dry lips, this is my favorite product from this set, but overall, I prefer something a little thicker.
  • **Lancome Lip Idole Butterglow Keep It Glowy ($32, .01 oz/2.8g): The Lancome Butterglow formula is my runner-up favorite from this set. I prefer the packaging and the experience of using it. When applied, it has a nicer texture because it melts a little easier than Clinique without being slippery. It has a nice shine that isn’t too much for me (less shiny than the Clarins Lip Comfort Oil). The Keep It Glowy shade is basically just a clear lip balm shade for me. However, I have seen the entire range in stores, and some colors will act as more of a tinted lip balm (depending on your natural lip color). This provides light hydration while I’m wearing it, but my lips feel dry again once it is gone. If I had a tinted color, I’d be willing to work with that, but I wanted this shade, in particular, to act as a lip balm. I agree with Lancome’s claims that it is hydrating, long-wearing, and non-sticky. It does hang on the lips for a good amount of time, although I can’t say how long the tint would last for the shades with color. This one just doesn’t have enough nourishment for me personally, but I still think it is a good product.
  • Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm Rose ($26, .095 oz/2g): This product is very soft, and you have to be careful not to roll it up too much because it breaks off in chunks very easily. I’m pretty sure the full size is a click pen, which you also have to be careful not to advance too much since you can’t roll it back down. Tarte claims the Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm is hydrating and provides a balm, gloss, color, and treatment, and I agree. The issue for me is that it irritated my lips. The fragrance being higher on the list than the lip products I typically use is my best guess at the problem.
  • **Wander Beauty Lip Retreat Oil Oasis Glow ($22, .33 oz/10 mL): Unfortunately, I can’t tell you much about this one because it has glitter in the formula. I could immediately feel the glitter and see it on my lips, so I took it off and didn’t test it. This just isn’t my kind of lip product. There is a warm rose shade that doesn’t look like it has glitter in it, so that may be a better option if you are also sensitive to feeling the glitter particles.

Have a good one 🙂

  1. This is such a nice trial set! Usually lip sets I see only have 1 or 2 items I want to try, making them not worth the price for all the others I don’t want. Oh and I like the Clarins lip oil so if you think the elf one is better, I might have to check that out one day!

    1. I usually don’t go for sets for that exact reason. Surprisingly in this one, the Wander beauty was the only product I wasn’t initially interested in so it was a good set overall.
