While I do enjoy the **Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Concealer, I wish it weren’t so expensive at $60. If you saw my post on the Tom Ford Highlighter last week, then you know I was less than impressed. I’m not going to become a regular shopper at the Tom Ford counter, but this concealer makes me a little curious to at least try a foundation from the brand. I probably won’t, since luxury brands often add alcohol and fragrance to their products, and those ingredients just don’t agree with my dry, eczema-prone skin. Regardless, today I’ll let you know about my experience with the Tom Ford Soft Matte Concealer so you can decide if it might be worth checking out for yourself.

This concealer looks beautiful. It has a satin finish, and it doesn’t require setting with powder on my dry skin. Adding powder makes it too dry and matte for me personally. It does sink into my deepest wrinkles a tiny bit, but you can’t tell unless you get super close. I do have to build this up with a second layer to get the promised medium coverage. I do wish it had a little more coverage. Even pairing this concealer with a color corrector leaves me feeling like the coverage has only improved slightly. I think part of it is the delivery. The formula performs best for me and gives more coverage when I apply it directly to my skin and blend it. However, when pairing it with a color corrector, using that method can disturb the corrector. Using your finger or a brush also works to get the product from the stick, and then apply it to your skin. That just resulted in lighter coverage for me, which just barely gets to medium. However, the brand only claims medium coverage, so it is delivering on its claims. I just want it to over-deliver because it’s $60, but that isn’t really how it works 😆.  As far as the other claims go, I didn’t find the Tom Ford concealer to be hydrating, but I do agree with the “non-drying wear” claim. I also think it does blur imperfections a little, but I don’t think it’s anything that will blow you away if you’re someone who uses powder.

The shade 5WO Tan looks a little off in the undertone for my Estee Lauder 4W4 skin tone (a little too pink), but it works once I have all my makeup on. I do think this shade will be too light in summer, though, and the next shade is a cool undertone (5CO Caramel), which won’t work for me. There is a 6WO Terra, but it is too dark. Mixing 5WO and 6WO works, but that is an expensive solution.

I think the **Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Concealer is great. I do wish it cost less, but that isn’t what Tom Ford or luxury brands are about. Regardless of price, this concealer’s performance really is impressive. It wears incredibly well without powder and creases very minimally. Plus, it stays comfortable on my skin and doesn’t start looking dry until about 8 hours into wearing it.
